IT Sector Leads with Highest Number of Registrations

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) reported the registration of 4,761 new companies in August. This brings the total number of registered companies in Pakistan to 311,765.
According to the SECP, 99.9% of these registrations were completed online. Additionally, three foreign companies entered the Pakistani market during this period.
Among the newly registered companies, 2,762 were private companies, while 1,846 were single-member companies. The information technology sector led with 872 new registrations. This was followed by trading with 732, services with 601, construction with 295, and tourism with 232.
Regional Breakdown
Punjab recorded the highest number of new company registrations at 2,547. Islamabad followed with 843, Sindh with 702, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 407. In the northern regions, Gilgit-Baltistan registered 151 new companies, while Balochistan recorded 111.
Foreign Investment
The SECP noted that 134 foreign investors participated in the newly registered companies in August. A significant contribution came from 106 Chinese investors.
In comparison, July saw a record 5,438 new company registrations, including five international companies establishing offices in Pakistan.
